Christian Catholic Hermit Mystic: On Love of God over Obsession with Temporal

Paul the Apostle repeats the impact of God's Law, the Law of Love.  Jesus so teaches this law, that it is hard to fathom how we can so easily draw away and become confused in the temporal aspects of the temporal human's existence.  One must constantly pray to live God's Law of Love with every moment of thought, emotion, spirit and soul--in some ways leaving the temporal body behind while learning to love others as God loves, yet while asking of our bodies to heed that of God's law of love.

If we read something  that is confused in length and purpose, the intent becomes that of twisting threads of temporal mind and emotions into knots of more temporally created confusion.  Then that which we read (or attempted to read) is not of God's love, but rather that of the temporal love of self, that of creating yet more temporal confusion of laws created by humankind to further elevate the self.

If when trying to exist in other than Christ's simple teachings--and this ca be of those who twist God's law of love into laws of temporally confused words of more power, prestige, privilege, possession and politicization of self, including trying to garner more like-selves as followers of such human-made laws, the simplicity of God Is Love is lost to that person or of what comes out of such a person's temporalized view of the numinous love of God.

To love others as oneself presupposes one's self is in Christ, in God, in the Holy Spirit.  This is the every-moment assessment of self that is so necessary.  To love as God loves, one must be in God.  To love as Christ loves, one must be in Christ.  To love as the Holy Spirit loves, one must be a vessel of the Holy Spirit.  To be consumed with the temporal world--even the temporal world of humankind's temporalization of the Church by the human-created laws which involve yet more temporalization of one's existence in what is a temporalized church--then God's Law of Love is lost to those temporal humans.

This includes the path of life upon which God sets each of us, in whatever format that may be expressed in words.  Those who are so temporal as to not be able to envision a life lived in the Love of the Holy Trinity are not of those of temporal nor spiritual association.  The temporalization of Christ's Church, including the living according to laws created by humankind even if thinking is for Christ's Church, is to have lost the only "law" necessary, and that is that of the love of God and love of others as God loves.

A vocation is not a temporal law.  A vocation of God's calling, ordaining, and consecrating has to do with God and the soul of the person to whom God calls, ordains, and consecrates to Himself in His "law" of Love of God, and love of others through, with, and in God's Love.

Thus, this is all rather simple, is it not?  Christ built His Church upon the law of God's love.  Love God above all else, love others as God loves, which is loving through, with, and in God's Love.  The primary initial and eternal task is to love, to love to learn to love God.  Be draw into His Real Presence in love, not be drawn into temporalized laws of humankind's temporal creation.

A former priest, now an eremite, has asked regarding his leaving the one call to enter into another.  It is simply a matter of God's Law of Love.  God led him out of the one vocation and into the other, despite initial despair of wondering if he had too hastily left the one of which increasingly are temporal laws involving protocols to take leave and then more temporal laws in order to return if even feasible. Then God gave to the man priest, God's way of Love, and of love of the poor and hungry, and love of the God-created earth and seeds.  Then came from God to the man, also the eremitic path, free of temporal laws; for if one is led by God to follow His simple love call to the desert, this may be the desert of the poor whose need is that of food to sustain them.

The God-called soul thus entered into God's call of a vocation into the desert of God's leading and providing.  God called, God consecrated this former priest as one of His hermits.  The man in God's love has since helped the poor and hungry in a land of which the poor are being taught to sustain the earth and grow their own food which is good for their bodies--but which also is very good for the renewability of the beloved soil of the earth that God created.

All is well now with that soul, now a priest forever, more of the Order of Melchizedek than of temporal church laws, and an eremite in the desert of life, yet in the fullness of love of God and love of others as God loves.  He exists in the depths of the Law of Love Is God without temporal-created-by-humankind- laws of temporal words which create more temporal questions needing more temporal unraveling, than ever does require of God's Law of Love.

Be at peace within and without, in God's Law.  The Law of God Is Love.  Ponder, embrace, think, feel, and live in the Trinity of God's Love.  It is quite simple.  Breath by breath, consider what is God's love in each action, thought, feeling, and of what one's soul and spirit contains.  Obsession with the laws of humankind's temporally constructed laws of the temporal (even of the temporalized church), or freedom in the simplicity and eternal fecundity of God's Law of Love.  Love God above all else and love others as God loves--even more so than one can love oneself (for love of self is rooted in God's love of each of us).

This is truly simple, is it not?

Reference, Letter to the Romans 13: 8;

"Brothers and sisters:  Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law."

[Attempted to read some lengthy, online writings of obsessions with the temporal.  I was left needing relief for the eyes and stomach, the mind, heart, and soul.  I write the above as a reminder to self and any others.  Obsesssion with the temporal laws created by humankind (including for the church) is not in kind with God's law of Love.  Pray God, keep us on the path of God's Law of Love.  There is the Law of Love in Christ with Christ as Head of His Church; there is the Law of Love for those who are in Christ, in God, and in the Holy Spirit who comprise the Body of Christ: the Church.  Temporal laws created by temporalized humankind are not God's Law of Love.  Temporalized laws create more questions, problems, divisions, and chaos--not peace nor love of God above all things, not love of others as God loves, not as love of the self as loved by God.  Stay clear of such; protect my soul.]

Christian Catholic Mystic Hermit: Progression of Mind, Heart, and Soul in His Mystical Church

So many concerns for the people of Ukraine, including the brave soldiers and civilians fighting for the freedom of their country.  I pray also for the Russian soldiers who are forced by brainwashed upbringing, as well as those conscripted, into fighting to kill others in another country, mercilessly.  I ask His Real Presence to please stop Vladimir Putin and those around him, for their horrific behaviors and decisions of invading another country.

It's Lent, and my body now also has besides the sinus infection that continues at end of fourth week, with sawdust having scratched my left eye.  I need prayers to cope with the pain of what the ophthalmologist says are scratches and a contusion.  I realize that His Real Presence allows my injured eye to be a reminder that I am to be seeing all, at least for now, with inner eye.

While I'm unable to get a second zpack to finish pushing out the sinus infection, I found when I went to pharmacy to get the ointment and antibiotic drops for the eye, that the young GP had at least sent a prescription for some nasal spray.  I have two OTC sprays I've been using, but I'll give this hopefully stronger type a try. I've called the ophthalmologist office to find out what they recommend for the pain of left eye.  When there, the doctor had put numbing drops in the eye, but that wore off after a couple hours.  Boo hoo hoo.  Actually, praise God as have more to offer as pain prayer for many intentions, particularly the raging war going on in Ukraine.  God please convert Putin's soul, and other souls, as well.

I've written to Fr. V. asking what he thinks of my thoughts on the church as passageway, the temporal on to the stairway to heaven, on to heaven eternally.  It does seem that my temporal body is not needed by God to be in the temporal Church, and at this phase of spiritual progression, my mind, heart, and soul are fed by His Real Presence, my sins forgiven by His Real Presence, my all and everything led and directed and guided along is of His Real Presence in His Mystical Church.

This means nothing against the temporal Church other than the temporal is always passing away--our bodies and structures, and temporal aspects of our growth and learning as we are progressed along the passageways, the paths, and through this life and the temporal Church of this life.  There is nothing negative about it from my view and understanding, also which has progressed, but rather a simple transition of passing through one portal and onto another passageway shown me to be the stairway to heaven.

It is so clear to me, so vivid, so natural, so obvious, so real and so His Real Presence, this progression.  He knew I had no bodily purpose or otherwise in the temporal Church; He fulfills all that my soul, mind, heart, and body need in His Mystical Church, directly, mystically.  I had learned and given all that God needed of me in passageway of the temporal Church.  I am not perfected by any means; but the progression is now on the stairway to heaven--which means it is not heaven, but from what I was shown, a stairway that extends as if eternally, forever.

God bless His Real Presence in us!  Love in His Love!

Christian Catholic Mystic Hermit: God's Leading, Progression in His Church (Some Thoughts)

Been more ill today with sinus infection worsening from having been after zpack over two weeks ago, slightly better. I remembered and verified in some research again, that sinusitis (which are sinus infections but I thought sinusitis just drainage, but not) is something that can occur with those having Arachnoiditis--thankfully, rare affliction.  Never ends until death and gets worse over time while alive.

Yet it is a beautiful cross, Arachnoiditist, a gift of God and part of what He's used to form me and progress me onward and upward into eventual fullness of Light: the Most Holy Trinity.
Arachnoiditis can be cause of recurring sinusitis, that hang on like this current, sinus affliction.  Am weak, dizzy and imbalanced, head pain, face and eye pain; is draining some but just not over it.  Clammy then sweaty then chills and totally fatigued.  Was a rough day being so sick again.  T (hired man for heavier tasks) coming tomorrow and wish I felt better to assist more.  Costs are adding up, of course.

Regardless, I am so appreciative that the Gospel includes Jesus speaking of forgiving others and asking God's forgiveness, and our then being forgiven by God.  Please forgive me for the upsets I've written concerning experiences and situations in Catholic Church-- the temporal Church, not His Mystical Church. I have had much good with Church now that I grasp that the Mystical is His church for eternity and can be now, also, once one recognizes and grasps His Mystical is for now, just as His Real Presence is in us now, and we are in Him, now; and we can be forgiven by God in and through spiritual confession--a mystical event also is communion, within, of His Real Presence, His Body and Blood and more so, all of Him!  Spiritual and Mystical we may become, in some aspects our bodies, but very much so our minds, hearts, and souls in His Real Presence: the /Trinity.

Forgive me that I remained affixed too long to the temporal of parishes and dioceses, but I have benefitted greatly from and through temporal aspects of churches from childhood on, for as long as I can recall.  All aspects and experiences, growth, learning, the temporal Church was a progression, each church a passageway opening to the next, culminating for me, in the temporal Catholic church. I have passed through all the good of temporal Church and learning of His Real Presence in the Consecrate, mystically His Body and Blood in tangible form, to His Mystical Catholic church, now somewhere, likely first step or two of the stairway to heaven.

I have asked God to forgive me for clinging to temporal of Church when there is so much we can progress into that of His Mystical church from within to without.  Could be now more of His Mystical Church, if would have overcome much of what as been added and altered by humankind over the centuries.  However, His Real Presence has been for quite awhile, leading me through (or on out of)  the passageway of temporal Church to that which is no longer temporal Church passageway but a stairway Mystical passageway, yet while in whatever passageway God wills.

Yet, I feel of myself that I have slipped, stumbled, resisted, and in these and more, sinned.  Do you think this is due to my not cooperating with God, not grasping what He was showing me, telling me, and leading me onward for past 12-16 years in particular?  Lump on my grousing--wanting and trying to hang on to the temporal Church when His Real Presence wanted me to pass through after learning and growing much in that needful and progressing phase of temporal Church passageway?

I beg forgiveness of God for my having stubbornly resisted passing through, and also for my being so complaining--of which I'd not had I let go of that which He had in HIs plan and will for me, progressed me through!  If I'd have had the faith and courage when in some parishes and dioceses past, not trying so hard to cling to the temporal Church when God had progressed me through, brought me to the base of stairway to heaven, even asked me Himself why would I want that (temporal Church) when I could have Him more directly now?

So I've been offensive to you of what I am seeing more clearly.  I myself needed to see my own aspects that hinder me in His progressing me, and to learn in reality the humankind alterations or temporal emphases made increasingly over the centuries, and not always as Jesus taught or ordained in His Church.  Also, what t have I done to spread the Good News? Too busy being upset and disillusioned with  myself and those aspects of the temporal which, of course, is passing away.  Or our experiences in the temporal Church and world is passing away [a good] if we progress in God's leading us to the Mystical which is eternal--but also now.

However, my own situation is made difficult due to unable to sit without intractable pain. The mystical ecstasies that began in late Augutst 2008 progressed in themselves from weak to deep.  That too was/is an example of how our spiritual lives--our minds, hearts, and souls--are to progress, led by His Real Presence.  By not letting go of the temporal of anything, including the increased temporalizationg of His Church by us humans--we will find out one way or another the fullness in Jesus teaching the temporal is passing away.  His Real Presence is progressing us toward reality of His Real Presence and His Mystical Church--of which He is the Head with none other.  Directly and fully, in reality, the Trinity was and is and is to come; we who believe and love and follow and do HIs will are His Body. This is His Church, eternally His Mystical Church!

I am thrilled with grasping and accepting what has been shown over some years within the temporal Church.  I have been eager to help, learn, read, participate, tried to help others, and learning to love His Living Word, forgive, ask and be forgiven. Furthermore, it seems the holy ones we read about or who have left their lived lives and writings grasped this and progressed from the temporal to the Mystical Church; they wrote about His Real Presence, His Living Word, and life in following Christ's teachings.

Those who wrote about the humankind aspects of temporal Church, were not those who grasped the process nor had as intense need God, and that God has need for us to be in progression.  Constant progression in His Real Presence, coming aware of the stairway to heaven which is beyond the passageway of all the good to great of temporal church, in which we are progressed along and at some point through and led to the stairway to heaven. When that created by humankind is sifted out.  What remains is the love and charitable good works, the faith and hope, the communal communicating and sharing with one another and the world, His Good News.  His Real Presence and His Living Word, His forgiveness and other aspects of what Jesus instituted such as baptism, marriage, anointing of sick, etc-- each of us and together yearn to be in His Living Word, living in it day and night, striving in progression through passageways.

Today in His Living Word Jesus also speaks of how to pray, to use few words; He gives to us all the Lord's Prayer as example of the prayer that we can always pray and of Christ, all that is pleasing to God in the prayer.  (I wonder if I will ever share in my writings without so many words?)

God Bless His Real Presence and Love as God Loves!

[Will be continued in next day or so--providing God wills and body is made able, for we never know the day nor the hour!]

Christian Catholic Mystic Hermit: More Thoughts, Third Day of Lent 2022

Started to write this [warning: it's very long] to an elder friend who actually is not interested in such content of temporal and spiritual considerations.  Instead I sent it to Fr. V., asking him to tell me if the thoughts make sense to him, if he finds them meaningful in some type of truthfulness of spiritual progression from temporal to mystical.  Or to share whatever thoughts he has with what I've written and shared.  Through much of it, as to myself, I am reminded of God's providence even in the details of an unexpected email, two years hence from same old new age melding with Christianity: a debate, of sorts, a dilemma.

I'm struck by the Scripture:  Rend not your garments, but rend your hearts.

Also, today in the Gospel Jesus explains that while the Bridegroom is with them, the wedding guests do not fast. But soon the  Bridegroom will be taken from them, and they will then fast.

However, we know from Scripture and from inner spiritual experience, that the Bridegroom is within us and we are within Him; He abides in us and we abide in Him; He is with us and we are with Him.  Thus the Bridegroom is with us, so we praise, not fast.

Am I not thinking correctly?  Seems yes, the apostles who were asking Him, did grieve when He was crucified and resurrected; yet He then sent the Holy Spirit shortly after He ascended into Heaven.  But all along He said He would be with them, and that He was sending the Holy Spirit to continue teaching us and to be with us; and we know that the Holy Spirit is One with God and with Christ: the Trinity.

So the fasting that is temporal--is it what God desires of us now that He is with us always and we are with Him?  Does He not prefer that we allow Him to do with us as He wills?  And then we follow? Of course, we continue learning and progressing in understanding His Real Presence, and that is in prayer and praise and in living our lives and in studying His Living Word, absorbing and asking Him questions, as well as learning how to love as God loves.

I considered that for over a year now I cannot eat many foods, and if I eat too much, such as more than half an apple at a time, or more than a couple bites of banana, or the slice of raisin bread with peanut butter for breakfast, I get nauseated, and if I eat something like the sugary sweet but scrumptiously endorphin boosting piece of vanilla cake with cheesecake in the center, I get nausea all the same. But I cope or take anti-nausea med to assuage somewhat for what it is I've eaten that was too much or sweet.  And enough of it and I won't eat more of that type of "food"--my just desserts that I receive in exchange.

So for me, temporal fasting has run its course. As for the no meat on Fridays in Lent, I don't have meat anyway; many people are by trendy choice, vegans.  So that made up the rule to not eat meat on Fridays, which I liked when I was first Catholic as it meant people were thinking of Christ's crucifixion--well, maybe they were and maybe they weren't after years of that rule in the Catholic church. T/hey had dropped it but I continued it on my own, for I liked the discipline and of thinking of Christ with my not eating meat on Friday.

But we are to progress, right?  We begin thinking of Christ often in the day, and not eating a certain food is not the reason nor reminder.  Maybe if a family did it, with mindful of Christ and donated the money the meat costs to some cause or the poor?  I can see for a child that giving up candy has some kind of impact--unless the child happens to not care that much about candy or is diabetic and candy is not good for the child.

Well, anyway, I'm not sure about fasting, temporally. But I can grasp that of rending the heart or of my fasting from memories of the past, especially those that pop up unbidden.

I had considered emailing [woman] from [parish] and apologize for my concerns about the spiritual directors group at the parish who are available to guide people's spiritual lives at least under previous priest--but now comes an email from her, after two years--a mass mailing including [man from parish] of whom I had forgotten his last name.  They are pushing a Dream workshop, just $350, being led by a woman from [wealthy community in another state], who earns money by teaching the workshops and does one on one and group dream work, interpreting and so forth.  $60 an hour or such.

This conference is going to be held near a monastery/convent somewhere, distance away.  There are a few spaces remaining for the conference; they'd like them filled.  I had researched the woman from [out of state] two years ago or so.  No thanks.  She is Catholic was stated a couple years ago in email advertisements for what he offered at the parish, but I am familiar with the confusion of the Catholic churches in that other area.  It seems today the Holy Spirit or my angel or both have provided me with reminders that those with spiritual gifts should be helping others as: freely given, freely give.

Perhaps I'm antiquated, but it seems especially if one has spiritual gifts, they should not be charging others, especially Catholics or other Christians, to teach and impart what they've learned?  Or, put it in a book and let those persons interested in new age purchase to learn from reading.  However she makes money more by private sessions in which she interprets dreams and does personal therapy but without license or clinical credentials.  She went to the [X institute]--new age education that is costly.

Yet, again, I see the void.  Perhaps she has these gifts?  Is she a mystic gone awry or a spiritualist, new age?  She is doing the workshops in conjunction with the sisters' monastery, invited there, arranged via the [man who dabbles in new age, from parish].  The religious sisters have veered to new age, from researching online their interests and functions.  There is a difference between Christian spiritual life and new age.  Therein lies the problem.  There is a difference between Christian mystics and new age gurus or spiritualists.  But utilizing our dreams is good to do, but learning to interpret is more a matter of spiritual discernment and prayer--and His Real Presence called upon to help us do this (and free of charge, Divine grace].

I think the current priest and his assistant, both from a religious order of [foreign country], perhaps do not realize, or else it is too tricky to say "no more" to [the man] and the other parish spiritual directors or ask them to provide non-new age-backed credentials.  It seems from today's email, [the man] held a workshop in the church in the fall--something on dreams yet again.  He invited this woman whom he met at [new age institute] to come, and she charges for group listening plus for those who want one-on-one dream help.  Just smacks of WRONG, to me, especially selling one's spiritual gifts in the church!

This brings to mind another Scripture, a major one in which Jesus was overtly angry, and said His Father's House was not to be used as a marketplace, not for selling.  Her spiritual gifts all the more, if genuinely of the Spirit, ought not be sold.  Anyone who can afford [institute across the country] and lives on [wealthy community] is most likely not hard up for money.  She should do her "work" for the general public and keep it out of convents and churches, in my opinion, based on various factors that seem genuine.  However, those who are doing this are quite sincere and truly believe there is nothing wrong in charging others in Christian churches for what is questionably based; maybe they do not realize God-given spiritual gifts are to shared or maybe written and published as would other authors, especially that of personal beliefs or new age tendencies.

That email from [parish woman] did trigger the temporal past in me, though, and another wrong going on in various convents and also with some monks and priests here and there, of which three have passed away--Rahner, Pennington, and Keating

There seems a void in the temporal Church, and perhaps it has to do with people not understanding the temporal church as a passageway in which to grow and learn yet progress onward, to graduate to higher or deeper levels of spirituality, of faith, of His Living Word, of grasping His Real Presence in us and us in Him.  Perhaps if we all grasped more, and much of what humankind has made up and added to was then recognized as having passed or temporal and not so much of it needed, matters would be different.

As it is in many instances, some people seek all the more but do not recognize the simple purity of His Real Presence in us, and His Living Word that we can bring into us--so enter in new age ideologies or other beliefs, when Jesus is here for us!  The Holy Spirit, God the Father, His Living Word should be enough for us!  Mary, angels, and the writings of the mystics and those who passed through, progressed, and shared in writings or of their lives, also showing the way to the stairway to Heaven, and also His Mystical church which is ours for eternity.

We but need to stick with His Real Presence and HIs Living Word.  Jesus, God the Father, the Holy Spirit:  The Trinity ought  be enough for us.  His Living Word opens the mystical depths and breadths as well as the temporal way to be, think, speak, pray, praise, and love as God loves.  His Real Presence in us and us in Him--ask and learn of the Trinity!  Eat His Body and Drink of His Blood in tangible form at Mass or in mystical form within, for the asking, and subsummation into the Trinity is given us!  Go forth, swim out into the deep, seek and ye shall find.  There is far more "real" of true life than the temporal, for the temporal is always passing away.

I'll not be paying $350 for a new age workshop on dreams, even if cloaked in Catholic setting and promoted by and for Catholics at a Benedictine convent.  I'll not be apologizing for my reticence two years ago, and my concern given to the leader of the parish "spiritual directors" as to all of their having taken training and certification by new age curriculum and new age teachers--even if some who run or own the certification programs, much of it online, say they are Episcopal background or former Presbyterians.  It matters not the religious background when non-Christian ideologies enter in.  Researching these persons, as I did, thoroughly, it seems they  have filled their void, not with faith in the reality of God in us, and venture instead into  the allures of spiritualism, or new age ideologies, and various techniques and temporal practices.

Yes dreams are vital in Scripture, and they are vital in our lives today. But God will help us learn to discern and pay attention to our dreams through simply asking Him!  Study His Living Word! Pray to His Real Presence within, listen to Him respond; ask the Mother of God and our guardian angels to assist as well.  It is as simple as that!  And it is not necessary to focus on or want to have dreams.  What dreams we are to have and the ones we are to heed, God will make sure we remember, and usually they are quite direct or we are able, with our God given knowledge or some simple research, begin to figure out the messages God is giving through dream images, scenarios, and words spoken.

Just a thought, that I could offer to the priest to share about dreams and how to discern if of God or not, and how to learn to figure out the messages if they aren't clear to us, which most are with some prayerful thought.  Those who have learned, can teach others how to learn to interpret the dreams with God-given messages and how to know the difference.  St. Joseph, all the Prophets, Mary, others in Scripture who had dreams in which His Real Presence was teaching or speaking, giving a message--did they need new age or otherwise dream workshops to dream more or know what they meant?  God is in charge of the dreams that matter and are from a Christian basis of the Trinity, the Living Word, prayer; seek help from His Real Presence first if we do not get the point.  Or, if still uncertain, and temporal help needed, discuss with a trusted Christian person for added help on discerning a dream or dreams.  Is that not part of loving others as God loves?  Such acts of Christian charity extend and progress us in the spiritual life, on the stairway to heaven, into the Mystical Church.

My thought to offer of God's gifts given freely, that I could freely give, is but a thought.  I have not had any such thoughts of mine come to any good fruition in parishes, other than the soup kitchen which the Virgin Mary appeared in a dream vision and told me how to set it up, as it was an atypical soup kitchen which had several groups of volunteers and delivery went to the persons wanting--anyone who asked ask they needed a touch of love.  That was a hard concept for some volunteers: to give with love and to learn that not only the poor are in need of love and assistance.  Freely given, freely give.

I'm repeating myself, likely.  That email after two years of nothing, is for a reason.  And I'm expressing these thoughts yet again because they are of vital importance to us Christians--Catholic or other religious denominations or none.  Karl Keating--the late priest and abbot who left his post because he was seeking something more, realizing the temporal rules and rituals, the laws and traditions created by humankind and of which he rigidly followed and expected as superior of his priests and brothers to follow likewise--were not progressing him spiritually, not taking him to the Stairway to Heaven, not to Christ's Mystical Church.  So he veered into Buddhism, and adopted some of those techniques and exercises to his religious life.

He was made to quit his position as abbot, and he next left the monastery; but in kindness they did not remove him from priesthood or the religious order itself.  But in actuality, he was on his own other than given some support and a beautiful place to live by the gratuity of a well-off friend.  He further explored what morphed also into New Age ideologies, and adapted those into a quasi-Christian-seeming admixture of some bits of Catholic Christian and biblical familiarity.  He wrote books that sold well, his name already known from his years as an abbot of a famous monastery.  He was a brilliant man.  And he did pray, was sincere, and he knew Scripture; but the Buddhist techniques and mind-emptying exercises, the new age ideologies--were they necessary?  Did he have an aura of intrigue about him, if you will, from his dramatic and publicized vocational life change, as well as of living in solitude out in a lovely view home in a western, mountain state?

He was sought after for advice, for his wisdom of years and religious studies; and he was truly a thoughtful, intelligent, experienced priest who'd held, for some years, great responsibility and esteem when monk abbot.  He collaborated with two other priests in developing a technique they famously called "centering prayer" based on a conglomeration of new age ideologies and Buddhist techniques, with some Scripture and Christianization, the prayer technique arose. The men also had their renown as priests to lend authenticity. Regardless, Basil Pennington and Karl Keating might have come, themselves, to a point of realizing the temporal Catholic Church in temporal, for them the humankind aspects "passing away," their personal, spiritual growth at crossroads, and they found themselves seeking more, something deeper, that of God Himself.

But it seems to me, from my experience in the spiritual life as well as being a life-long Christian who progressed through Protestant churches and studied of other world religions including Hinduism, Buddhism and Sufism, and knew closely some who were in New Age practices and ideologies to which God warned me with a locution to follow no one but Him--that one does not need to veer into new age or Buddhism or any other than Christianity.  And this Christianity is and means Christ's Church which Jesus instituted, and His teaching the apostles with Peter as the elder man and upon whom Jesus placed leadership responsibility--and the truthful matter of understanding what is His Church.  Jesus is Head, and all who believe in, love, and follow Jesus are His Body:  The Church.

Follow Christ, remain in His Living Word and strive to live as he teaches.  Learn to love as God loves.  Love God above all else and love other as God loves.  Pray, praise, worship God as the Trinity:  Father, Son, Holy Spirit.  Learn from His Real Presence, partake of His Real Presence given to us in tangible and in mystical form: His Body and His blood.  Learn from the Mother of God, from those great souls who went on before us, of whom we can read and also read of those who left their writings, helping us to progress spiritually.  Lean on our Guardian angels who are always with us to help and guide, to protect.

Appreciate all that His Real Presence, the Holy Trinity, has provided for us in order for us to progress in life and be led to the stairway to heaven, and to ascend each step, growing increasingly in His Real Presence, in faith, hope, and love; and then to at some point known by God, to pass into His Mystical Church for all eternity.  This is also the trajectory for union with God, for His church is that of Christ as Head and the Body all His followers and beloved lovers--we, His children.

I have learned from reading Scripture and from the great writings of mystics and "saints", but most of all I have learned from His Real Presence--God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.  I have learned, also, from the Mother of God--her life and way of being, as well as various souls known personally to me or whom I've know of as in saints--who have passed over from this temporal life to the mystical eternal life; and in varying levels of progression they came into fullness of Christ's Light.  That's the best way I can describe it.  I did not need new age nor Buddhism nor any techniques such as controlled breathing, emptying my mind, or repeating a mantra.

I learned from HIs Real Presence, from listening, from having my life turned upside down, from being crucified to my life as a married person, death of a career in the world, to rearing children while at the same time always seeking His Real Presence in this very life, everyday, in which we all live and participate.  God guided me into the Catholic Church.  As far as I can tell it was not only for my own spiritual growth and to meet the mystics so I could understand more and not feel so alone, but also so that my sufferings would be made one with Holy Mother Church and in union with Christ's sufferings.

If a simple person such as myself finds His Real Presence leading me, and filling me with Himself, and guiding me, progressing me from learning in the temporal Church to the stairway to heaven, even if I have been insecure and dense in letting go of that temporal Church, surely anyone can have the same. I'm finally understanding an important aspect of a vision of the past in which the temporal Church was shown to me as a long passageway filled with much opportunity  and means for spiritual growth and learning, including much reading of good books proven by the test of time.

But 13 years later, I was given a vision dream, led by my angel to the base of the stairway to heaven.  Shortly after in temporal time, matters altered so that it was increasingly difficult to continue in parishes for reasons I'll not go into or repeat.  But it became, finally a few years later (God takes His time with a slow-to-catch-on soul!), it became obvious that I was not meant to physically be in a parish, but to progress on to the reality of the stairway to heaven which then begins our life in His Mystical Church.

Thus we understand that the temporal is temporary, but offers much good that we can learn and grow as the apostle Paul describes as drinking milk but when older eating meat. But the Church as passageway is to be traversed, in effect, and we are over earth time, usually, but being more spiritual and having gone out into the deep, we are led onward to the stairway to heaven.  There, at the base before the first step, we begin to ascend  while all the while we grow and  spiritually yet still in our temporal bodies.  At times it may seem as if surely this is not the way, but in the silence (and also can be much suffering), we come to greater faith, hope, and love!  We swim more confidently in blind faith into the deeply vast waters of His Living Word; we partake of His Body and Blood spiritually and mystically; we are on the way to being eternally in His Mystical Church.

One thing I am learning when I do some research and uncover yet another tradition or label or ritual or rule or law that has been made by humankind after the time of Christ's being and living and teaching on earth, is that there may be good aspects of the human-created facets of the temporal Church.  But I have learned there is the reality that God desires to progress our hearts and minds and souls beyond those temporal aspects, for they are just that, and as if stepping stones along the passageway,. Yet they are temporal, and the temporal is always passing away.

While temporal enough, human-made as they are, even historically with good intentions, (most of them), these aspects of the temporal Church for those desiring more fully of His Real Presence, the temporal aspects cease to provide what His Real Presence wills for us:  our hearts, minds, and souls graduating toward union in His Real Presence, climbing the stairway to heaven,  progressing in the spiritual life of His Real Presence, existing in His Mystical Church for eternity.

This graduation of the soul to higher levels of spirituality in His Real Presence, and coming to the stairway, ascending over time, learning yet more, and living in Him, does not mean we will not continue in acts of charity and love, in continuing to learn increasingly what it is and how to love as God loves. It means we also have our sins on display from time to time, beg forgiveness of God, repent, express our sorrow to those of whom or in situations we've sinned.  But our faith and understanding increases of and in His Real Presence. Our love of Him and all His creation increases, our sufferings are less "ours" and more "His" to use as He wills--the love that suffering actually is.

I'm not there, myself!  I'm aware, though, I'm getting it, I'm understanding why the shift and events and situations keeping me from temporal increasingly, and that includes temporal aspects of parishes. His Real Presence prods me, progresses me to be aware of the stairway to heaven, to leave the past behind yet with appreciation and gratitude--not the old hurt nor confused upset.  Onward and forward, as I understand the passageway from His and humankind's temporal Church, into His Mystical Church.

Why His Mystical Church and not "ours"--is because in His Mystical Church we have become as one with His Real Presence. We in faith know with assurance, hope, and love, that we are in His Real Presence because His Real Presence abides in us always and everywhere temporally, spiritually, and in His Mystical Church.  We are One Body in the One Trinitarian Headship in His Mystical Church.

I've written on and on what with some effort of mind and fingers I could edit and shorten.  But I'll not. I'll let my humankind-self's repetitive inadequacy in expressing and describing, to stand as portrayal of truth of myself as very much learning and growing, a beginner of whatever stair step, likely the first one or two.

Awareness and acceptance of the passageway and the stairway to heaven, the temporal that passes away and the mystical that is eternal, plus the progression of the soul with mind and heart somewhat hindering at times the soul's journey--awareness and acceptance is a start, a solid start.  They imply or impart the sense that the past is also accepted and that awareness is made, forgiveness asked and forgiveness given, humanly but graced and possible in the Divine.

God bless His Real Presence in us!

Love in His Love!

Christian Catholic Mystic Hermit: A Reader Leaves an Errant Comment

The more I read of short commentaries such as one today of something Jesus said to Catherine of Siena regarding St. Paul--the holy ones of God yet while on earth did not go on about canon laws or doctrines or rituals or traditions; they wrote of their thoughts and interactions with His Real Presence and His Living Word.

A reader left a comment on one of my blogs, two actually, saying that to be a real hermit one must obey the "Church" in all matters including Canon Law 603 (instituted by humans in 1983), and that a "real" mystic would obey the Church.  I don't think the man even knows that the "Church" is the Body of Christ--all of us who believe in Christ as our Savior and whose task we were given of spreading the Good News, the Gospel and to strive living the one Law of God that is over all laws and one necessary: His Law of Love.  Love God above all things (including the thing the church has become in humankind's minds) and to love others as God loves.

One must obey God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit.  If Church means Christ as Head of His Church, then yes, obey Christ.  If Church has come to mean the temporal Church of centuries of humankind-created canon laws, traditions, rituals, and devotions--one is not obligated to "obey" other than the will of the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) and His Living Word.

[As a new Catholic and for several years, I had confusion over this "obedience to the Church" and "obedience to a Church bishop, and by falling into the trap of this misconceived obedience, I was deceived in obeying priests who were in mortal sin and grave matter, as it turned out.  I also "obeyed" a bishop and ended up with two costly shoulder surgeries when I had no health insurance (was not insurable so not by my choice being uninsured) because the bishop was ignorant in matters of mysticism and refused to read about mystical phenomenon, so foolish in what it was he wanted me to obey.   I was the fool to have obeyed the man who later I learned had not handled, also, a priest sex crime correctly.  The Psalmist rightly states as also lived the prophets and Christ:  Trust not in men, trust not in princes; trust in the Lord Thy God only.  I know that biographies have been written, as well as diaries published, in which persons stated that Christ or Mary or some canonized saint appeared and told them to obey their superior even if it caused them suffering, but one must be very careful in discerning such visions and locutions.  Obey the Three Persons of the Trinity over error-prone and ignorant humankind; obey His Living Word.  If a spiritual guide is advising what is in the Living Word and what is of Christ, then obey knowing one is obeying His Real Presence and His Living Word--not the person who is advising based upon God's will and His Living Word.  There is a subtle difference one recognizes in this "obedience." One must know with God's assurance that the person who is guiding is truly in His Living Word and not of the human practices found in religious orders that evolved from the early Middle Ages onward.  Discern carefully; seek God and obey God's will.]

The "Church" is the Body of believers--people--and Christ as the Head.  That is all; that is it; that is the Church.  It is not all this other, and nothing to obey but His Real Presence and to do His will.  The man also said that St. John of the Cross went around on behalf of "the Church" to ascertain which were "real mystics" and which were not "real." I've never read anything of the sort but have asked Dr. W. who corresponds and who has been a world leading expert on John of the Cross.  She was my professor in Avila, Spain, in the course on John of the Cross.

John was so subsumed into God especially in the latter part of his relatively young life, that I doubt he'd do that because he was focused on spiritual direction of St. Teresa's sisters, and then was ill from mistreatment and being enclosed for a second time up to his death from mistreatment by his then later superior and fellow friars who were envious and disliking of John's closeness to God.  John did not mind for he was so in God by then that he longed to be out of body always and with God in the hereafter, fully.  He died at age 51; the superior and a couple others asked his forgiveness the day before his death.  They intentionally moved him to the worst outpost "house" in the worst climate of Spain, in autumn, to hasten his death and cause him more suffering.  So he was not out and about, judging other mystics and not likely reporting to "the Church" as to being "real" or "not real".  How silly, anyway, the comments the man.  This is just the type of erroneous thinking that pulls down what esteem Christians and others can have for the Catholic Church--such extremists who miss the point of His Real Presence and His Living Word!

Today is St. Paul's day celebrating his conversion on the road to Damascus.  Paul emphasized and won an argument with Peter that Christ did not have salvation only for the Jews but for all peoples--including the Gentiles and for those in the whole world.  So yes, there is salvation outside the "Roman Catholic Church"; salvation is for those who believe in Christ and strive to follow Him.  The Orthodox Christians would and do argue that Orthodox Catholicism is the true church and no salvation outside Eastern Orthodoxy!  Every major religion argues they are the only one to provide salvation.

My own death experience and those many others prove that being a Christian--a lover and follower of Christ--allows one salvation.  Conversion can occur at judgment, also.  People who went further in their death experiences and who were not believers had opportunity to believe; and they report Jesus often there in person figure or in tremendous white light, and they knew it was God or Jesus--so loving and with the deceased doing a type of life review.  Some who died experienced hell and converted, were sent back and changed their lives.  I was in a negative situation at the time of my death, but God showed tremendous love and my Christian faith honored Him; I also was not Roman Catholic at the time.

The man making the blog comments is like those who are narrowed in spiritual reality and extreme in self-righteousness--seemingly not able to read or absorb the Living Word for what Jesus and the apostles actually stated and enacted while on earth.

Anyway, I did tell Thomas yesterday (the man helping me with manual labor my body is unable now to do) that on earth there seems no greater spiritual experience available for anyone than the Mass, if celebrated by a holy priest preaching the Living Word.  Of course, there is powerful experience in brief times of union with God, but the Mass is a beautiful and deep experience if one is open to His Real Presence in His Living Word and in Consecration.  The Living Word is crucial, leading into the Sacrifice.

Then there is the Stairway to Heaven aspect of Mass, and thus the Stairway to Heaven as the individual's spiritual climb--meant for all people who become believers and who desire His Real Presence and come to this point of the spiritual journey.

I'm interested in continuing up the Stairway to Heaven, as I had allowed temporal, human-made aspects of the Church disrupt my spiritual progression in God Is Love.  I was feeling guilty and confused, both, in not recognizing that parishes are gatherings of people but not of themselves necessarily "the Church."  Nor are all the created aspects and made up laws and rituals over the centuries "the Church."  Jesus decried many of these same elements of what had been His heritage "church," the temple, up to the time of His coming to proclaim the truth and teach the "Good News".

I do think the first three centuries and selectively some writers of later centuries have the most to offer as far as insights and help in spiritual growth.  The early Christian hermits were "real" as real can be, and the mystics were "real" as well.  No one investigated or fretted about the Christians who lived a life in solitude in His Real Presence; rather, they were dealing with their own spiritual lives in God.   They were not wrapped up in all the detritus that has accumulated in today's parishes and busybodies more concerned about others' Christian lives than their own.  I cannot in good conscience call all "that" His Church, for the Christian Church is the Body of Christ made up of His beloved followers and Christ as Head that is His Church, not the human-made folderol.

God Bless His Real Presence in us!  Praise Christ in His Living Word!  Love in His Love to all persons and all creation on earth and in heaven!

PostScript:  Dr. W. has responded regarding if John of the Cross went about checking up on other mystics and judging who of them were real or not real and then reporting to "the Church officials."  Her response is only this:  To John of the Cross, a mystic is one who is gifted with infused, supernatural graces; in other words, those who experienced ecstasy, rapture.  No mention made of his being an inquisitor nor tattler.  As for others who have defined mystics, I recommend the late Dr. David Knowles of Cambridge and his book, What Is Mysticism--which also delineates why and how mystics are born as mystics, chosen by God in this capacity so one cannot "become a mystic", whereas contemplation can be developed.  One can become a contemplative.  However, mystics are by nature contemplative.  Contemplatives are not automatically mystics.

Catholic Christian Mystic Hermit: Partial Correspondence to Professor Friend

(Part of correspondence to a dear friend, a professor I had in a course on John of the Cross in Catholic University of Avlia, Spain.  She has lost her husband in this past year plus has some type of malady which has limited her.  God bless her beautiful and loving soul!)

I notice the ones I greatly admire--mostly of the distant past--who were mistreated but moved on through the human-made elements and laws of the temporal church, even such as John of the Cross who was "in" a religious order but not really "with" it in his mind, heart, and soul but rather was IN HIS REAL PRESENCE all the time, elevated and had "passed through" the temporal church like the passageway it is--a passageway in which to learn and read and experience and grasp the differences between the temporal church with it's contrivances and personalities, those who are into organization and prestige, power, position and possession of many temporal aspects--and that of the Church that Christ instituted and invisioned, that He taught of what is best and right because he spoke against so many aspects of the Jewish "church" of His life on earth, the hypocrisies and twisted traditions, the extremism of human-created and altered laws, of the ills of the high priests and scribes, the Pharisees and Sadducees, and of the who-who types of people attending, and then of the blind sheep without a Shepherd, as it were.

People such as John of the Cross, Bruno the Carthusian, the desert fathers and mothers of early first centuries, Bernard of Clairvaux--these are some of the Christians who seemed to grasp the temporal Church as a passageway rather than a be-all and end-all but a means of developing and learning to discern what is of the Trinity and the useful aspects and knowledge learned, the theology, the Living word especially, the Law of God (Law of Love), the actual and very real presence of the Three Persons of the Trinity indwelling in us and us in His Real Presence.  They came to grasp and live and strive IN the Trinity, and their writings demonstrate they had passed through the temporal Church even if such as Bernard existed as spiritual leader in a group of men desiring God also, as did Bruno, even though /bruno did not at all want a religious order of his way of having passed through; after his /death Guigo 1 did that.  Same with Francis--had passed through the temporal church and wanted nothing to do with a religious order or list of goals despite giving in at the end of his short life, and wrote a few "rules" which were against his will, and for his plight, the Lord gave him the stigmata due to Francis desiring union IN His REal Presence and not a temporal organization of his way of coming to God, to the spiritual and mystical realities, to Love of God.
So these people like the early desert fathers and mothers and some others who have written of their passages and transitions through the temporal Church as passageway and of coming to the /stairway to Heaven while on earth, and living beyond the temporal, having passed through that and of not succumbing to the temporal church tainted with humankind's touch and twisting of what Christ taught and God desires.  His law is simple yet profound and most difficult:  the Law of Love of God and of others as God Loves.
So I am trying to accept that I passed through part-way through 2008, and prior to that was tempted and fell to being tempted to be drawn off in the twistings in and of the temporal church, of all that humankind had devised and created and developed and organized way beyond and full of distractions, and the pitfalls of power, prestige, position, possessions of church religious as well as parishioners: snares of the shallow end rather than going on out, passing through, into the depths of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit--the Trinity, His Real Presence.  And of residing there, through, with, and IN HIM.  Of learning to love, of loving to learn to love, and of living God's Law of Love.
So I'm trying to accept the years I hung on to what is not, and instead am trying to seek nakedly and in simplicity of trust, hope, love--what IS.
To ask God's forgiveness for having tarried in what is not, and to also forgive myself for having done so, to have clung to what is not despite so many messages, dreams, visions, locutions of moving on through, of being shown it as passageway filled with what is very good and helpful to learn, and to then pass on to the base of the stairway to heaven and begin ascending.  Yet I have dog-paddled at the base of the Stairway, keeping me feet on the bottom step and grasping the newel post, unsure and doubting perhaps, or fearful mostly that what God was telling me and showing me somehow was incorrect and tempted to still think of the temporal church with all its humankind-created this and that to be not a passageway and that I had passed through long since, even at times pushed on and out literally!
Somehow I felt a great need of a puppy that will grow into a small dog, as a living thing that will be happy to see me each morning and will not criticize but rather will have much acceptance of me who is different and with pain lives a solitary life.  The first month was difficult, as the pup named Mercy is a daily life changer; I have had to die more to myself in ways I thought perhaps I had but had not.  I must let go of my wanting to stay in bed as much and get up to let the pup out, to feed and train, to take her for a walk, to learn to play with her a bit, to also learn to love this little creature and practice virtues such as patience and temperance, self-control and fidelity to a dependent and rather helpless but quite happy and devoted dog.
I thought I was digressing spiritually, but I am finding out that I still had much to learn in these various ways, including discipline to keep going, to simply keep going, and that I am acceptable at least to the dog, even if I fall short.  I suppose the dog is a gift from God of sorts, to remind me of how God is loving, accepting of me, faithful, and wants me to keep going, to get up, to play a bit, to take a walk, to notice how Mercy the pup likes to sit out on the grass and just watch the scenery, the geese when they fly, the grass, the common area pond of the subdivision, and how she delights in people especially, when we go on an errand or walk, and how she also loves other dogs when we encounter them--but some of the dogs growl or are not interested in her.

It is good for me to see how Mercy (the pup, now three months old) moves on after some initial wishing and wondering--a second or two--and then is happily walking or finding something else of interest and delight.  That is how to treat those in situations or encounters who do not like or want contact with us; there is always something greater that stirs us onward and forward:  His Real Presence as the All in our lives and the lives of all creatures and creation.
It seems pathetic that I'd need a dog to help remind me and to make me get up in the morning.  Plus, the pain is up as a result of walking (impact of concrete but good exercise and to get out), to be out of bed, and the humility of needing more pain medication in order to manage my emotions and temper, my impatience, my remembrance to praise God always and be joyful as He is Joy and Light.
I know Michael is doing great, and we are the ones struggling and remain in this temporal life which itself is a passageway.  I know Alexandra is being guided and assisted by His Real Presence and her angel in her care of Larry and all aspects of household and the temporal responsibilities we have in this world, of our domiciles and citizenry, of the temporal costs and laws and taxes.  Larry is suffering so, and I continue to pray for him, also, and Judy Wood whose cancer is evidently no longer in remission.  I pray for you, and I hope that Juliana is there with you or you are able to visit and stay with Juliana for a while if you wish and it is helpful.  Of course, going to Avila is a long trip.
A long time acquaintance and clinical psychologist suggested to me that regarding my adult children and grandchildren that I be receptive rather than reach in, for when I'd reach in and not have responses, it was rejection repeatedly.  It is not easy as we want to reach in even to let others kjnow we are thinking of them, love them, hoping they are doing all right, encouraging and supporting them.  But I am accepting that my children have their own busy lives, and that their remembrance of childhood and teen years and following with a mother erratic with pain, are not pleasant memories now that they have their own lives unencumbered by the heaviness of the pain they lived with day in and out which at the time cast a depressive pall and then when I'd be not as pained, a kind of manic upswing of hopefulness and joy as the pain sieges would ease off, but then come again.

My life has been so abnormal, and even to see me not so accepted by priests and parishioners, and not understand church as passageway--that also then points to me as failed, I suppose, in their view of matters.  And I had felt that, also; but now I am contemplating simply accepting that I tarried too long in the passageway and too caught up in the temporal church rather than in noticing how the ones I so admire even in their writings and lives biographied--passed through despite still being "a Catholic."  That label was nothing overt in their lives; they had arrived at the base of the stairway to heaven while on earth, and while on earth they began climbing step by step as they had passed through the temporal church, learning what was needed, and taking with them the crux of the learning as they started to ascend the stairs, climb the holy mountain, IN HIS REAL PRESENCE and on earth, yes, but not focused on the temporal of the Church, a passageway, passed through.
Bruno more outwardly had "had it" in Cologne with an envious bishop causing his life stress and hindering him.  /when the time was ripe, he left for the farthest reaches of the Alps, passing through a Benedictine monastery en route and wintering over, but realizing that, too, was too weighted by temporal and was that which to pass through, as well, on his quest for His Real Presence in an environment unencumbered by what is not Christ's instituting nor plan for His Body, not ultimately, but merely was, is, a passageway.

Christian Catholic Mystic Hermit: Correspondence, Vision of Souls, Do Not Become Ensnared in Temporal Nets

Another correspondence to someone in attempt to explain pitfalls of not to become ensnared nor to remain ensnared in the temporal nets that can occur in various aspects of life, including the temporal and man-created, man-developed aspects of church, including the temporal aspects of the Catholic Church.

The Lord has been progressing me, working on me, expanding me for what is next.  I have been opened up to think and feel and "be" in terms of "Christian".  I have prayed as to why He brought me into the Catholic Church, and there are several reasons.  And now He has taken me through the portal, through the other, yet not without great effect and linkage, but out the temporal attachments and emphases.

I'm praying about what I'm to be "being" next, or even beginning it now. I'm fairly sure I'm to share the many experiences of God I've had in my life, from way back, as a soul who loves God and Christ and the Holy Spirit. There must be some reason for all the visions and locutions, the death experience, and various unusual phenomenon and occurrences, and I think it is to help others maybe realize how very real is God in our lives, in our midsts, as our Creator and All.  I'm thinking in terms of video or documentary style sharing rather than in writing.

But I'll continue to pray what is His will and desire, and why and what He wants me to do with it all, if anything. But I know it could inspire or help others--not particularly Catholics--but for those mostly who are not Catholic, the Gentiles, so to speak, of which I've always felt I was a Gentile Christian and now transitioning through the temporal church, temporal aspects of Catholic church now,  As it turns out. I'm more deeply Christian, though, and the spiritual of Catholicism provides treasure, and the writings left from the early centuries and those who grasped the spiritual over the centuries are guides; yet the temporalized aspects of Catholicism have been a warning to not get caught in those entangling nets.

I appreciate the Christian mystics and any holy and good persons, of course!  I appreciate all those associated with Christ when on earth, and prior and after, including those around me who are holy and good souls--such as friends and some priests over the years who are very much, holy souls, lovers of God, believers in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit!

I don't need persons or protocol to tell me who is holy and who is not; God lets us know in various ways, who are holy and good souls even if they are in process, for all are in process, even the canonized saints were in process. That is why it is nice to point out and award people with honors for doing well and being great examples of following Christ, but it is not necessary for all the emphasis put on it.  Some put much focus on some of these aspects such as saints, rather than on Christ, and the people who have been made into saints through process and ceremonies and label themselves do not want it, any more than Christ wanted the people to make him into their king.

Why not look to the "real deal" as the example, and allow the Holy Spirit to be as Jesus said--our Paraclete?  However, it is natural to look to other people and to appreciate the ones who stand out as particularly Christian and as close to Christ as is humanly possible.  These are in all religions and faiths and creeds--godly people.  God is removing me from my narrow limitations that I took on in my desire to fit in, and is helping me to see the "saints" canonized as having themselves flown free of all that, themselves.  They eschewed it.

But I also accept we people including within various Christian churches including within the Catholic church and also of varying religions are all in different places, as the vision given me years ago of what are souls, showed me. We are all in sameness in form but in various positions in the spectrum of progression toward the Light, and there is no essence of rushing or of judgment; all were progressing and all will come into the Light who are in the universe and that vast trajectory of convoluting, involuting, as if semi-transparent, living rubber cones-- our souls constantly moving within themselves, convoluting while yet constantly progressing toward the Light.

I wish I could paint the various visions with motion added. It would be breathtaking and explain so much. But that was one of the more vast and esoteric of visions, the vision of what is the soul and all our souls in relationship to one another and to God. The other visions were more concrete, images more of temporal earth and personages I'd recognize.  Or such as Mary who appeared and announced herself as Merari, and was of the image and likeness of people of Sumatra.  Mary is universal Theotokos.

I consider a "canonically approved hermit" who continues bleating about canon law 603 and of canonically approved hermits and about every aspect imaginable of canon law 603 and this and that persons in whatever judgment makes of their being true to CL603 or not, or who is or is not to be a Catholic hermit approved or not by the one's  estimation. On occasion this "canonical hermit" gets onto temporal societal topics, and from personal, temporal viewpoint opines upon what in self opinion is right or wrong and broaching into what self deems spiritual immorality and sin, degrading those who fall into the sin category and heralding those who are in agreement with how this person views matters.

I had been months away but took a look at what the one writes as an "approved by a bishop," canonical Catholic hermit, wearing religious garment of some past century's conception--similar to what Francis of Assisi wore, perhaps.  I was able to see that nothing had changed except I was not the targeted obsession any longer. I had stopped writing labeled as a "Catholic hermit" (of which I am if dwelling in the temporal protocols historically established traditionally by the Catholic Church centuries ago as a result of those in the Church who lived the hermit life and identified then if by anything, as "Christians."  They were "Catholics" in that there was no Protestant reformation. There have been hermits in other world religions, of course, before there were Christian hermits and before the Catholic hermit designation or the distinguishing of "Catholic" became pronounced due to development of Protestantism.

But I asked myself again, after seeing that even though I was no longer the target, the topics remain focused on a canon law and whatever born out of that or from being "approved" thereof:  Is that the fruit of years of being a Catholic, the fruit of Catholic faith, of having Catholic approval to a label of a way of life that is but one of many forms of vocation?

We are not God, and temporal Catholic regimen is such a temptation to certain personality types, and feeds on those who love external locus of control, and any one of us can become stuck, ensnared in the temporal Catholic nets.  And I have been tempted to be stuck, myself, and enmeshed myself in much of the temporal regimen in order to fulfill my human and pathetic need to be accepted, to fit in, and desire for something to fulfill an ideal. But the Catholic church is not God. It is made up of the Body of Christ and Christ as the Head.  It is also a means on earth, a help, a process to  help us learn much, be as supporters of one another, to come closer to God.  The church helps progress us and provides the penultimate gathering of two or more together in prayer and worship. That is, if we do not get caught, or at least not caught for long, in the temporal entanglements of the regimen that humans created, but the bulk of which Christ did not create nor seem to intend if one studies His Living Word.

I find that the earliest centuries of Christianity and the early Church are very helpful in reading what the holy Christian "catholic" people wrote, the Christians of the one Church despite how humans quite soon began to re-interpret and create other than what Jesus taught and lived.  The great writings of holy people of the early Church is one reason God brought me into the contemporary Catholic church--to learn!  As a Protestant, so much was never broached.

I also feel that God wanted me to get to know the Christian mystics, for they are all but missing in the Protestant churches. I had no conscious clue of them, prior.  When I read the first book written about seven of them--not calling them by "saint" but as women who had lived their mystical lives, they included Simone Weil [did not become member of Catholic church] and Rose Ferron, and of course Julian of Norwich, Catherine of Siena, Teresa of Avila, and two others--for the first time I found people I could relate with, people like me. Catholicism opened up so many, long before Protestant Reformation, who I could read about, get to know as if personal friends-- read their own words in writings extant.  But I also read how they were mistreated, many of them, and used for the purposes the temporal church and people not behaving so well as Christians, seemed to want.

These mystics did much good, of course, as they were good and holy humans, touched by the Holy Spirit.  They had a mission and purpose such as we all have, but they found theirs in clear and defined ways and fulfilled them as best they could or knew how, regardless if Catholic or not. It is said Simone Weil was close to being Catholic but did not out of deference to her Jewish roots.  The women in the first book I read, not yet a Catholic myself, really did more outside the grasp of the temporal Catholic church, yet the Church claimed them and promoted, such as Teresa of Avila and Catherine of Siena, who belonged more to God than to church.  But it was through her being allowed to found the Discalced Carmelites, that Teresa had the freedom to be more on her own path and of helping others into the spiritual life, rather than the temporal legalisms and orientation, such as the one I mention above and many others in the temporal aspects of Church continue with and in.

It is a good example of how I became caught up or even thought perhaps God wanted to use me to try to break through to the person via my blog posts which responded and reacted to this person's temporal emphasis on requirements and regulations--while I was trying to shine light on the spiritual and mystical realities.  I was so foolish to get caught in that snare of a debate.  It is as old as he devil.

Writing of God, JesusChrist, the Holy Spirit and how our lives daily and nightly are guided and led as we are in Him and He is in us, maybe seems not as easy as writing about people who have lived and died and of which much is written.  That is why I find His Living Word and God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit so fascinating and REAL, as they are REAL and inside us, and we are inside God.

What is love, and where does love reside in us? Where does love reside in God?  Is it love that motivates, such as my apologizing to neighbor man for my tenseness, when God needed me to also face his weakness and temporal greed. None of that incident  matters now, for God moved me on from seeing the weasel-type behavior.  We are all animals, of sorts, if we stay in that aspect, but we are created by God to rise beyond through, with, and in Christ, with the empowering love of the Holy Spirit, as God wants of us all.  It's all a marvel, really, the reality of God in us and us In God.

I'm pondering Heaven today, and the Gospel gives Jesus' parables of what is Heaven.  And I'm pondering, also, why He spoke in parables, for spiritual reality can be too much for most humans to grasp.  That is why dreams and visions are often metaphoric and images that represent or explain are clues, so to speak, to the truth and reality. Probably the closest to actual image of the soul was a vision I was given years ago, of what is and are our souls and how our souls progress.  The vision was quite simple but in vast expanse, out in the universe, and each soul shown as a cone-shaped unit which involuted over and over while at the same time steadily progressing toward an immense, centrifugal light.

All these cone-shaped, viscous-type, alive yet all the same visually, rubbery-like and nebulous--souls--kept turning inside out repeatedly while at the same time, concurrently, moving forward, advancing silently--millions of them all individual in their position of progression but all the same in appearance and this involuting motion, advancing simultaneously toward the center of the universe of all universes, from which came the immense and drawing-to-Itself Light.

I was told without words, this is how our souls grow and progress, never static, never standing still, none in the exact same spot or location in the progression, but always processing in multitudinous soul-procession, toward the great Light. And all around as if in the cosmos, all these cone-shaped, viable, rubbery, nebulous souls are in the billions, involuting while at the same time progressing all toward a center point in the  toward the great Light.  (I realize I'm repeating the description that is not easy to describe, and wish I had the skills to create a moving visual using internet technology to demonstrate the incredible, awe-some sight of souls in process of living and growing and progressing toward God, never ceasing, always going forward to the center of God the Creator and Source of All Energy and Beingness and Love.)

I notice that Jesus accomplished what the prophets before Him tried to teach and explain, to show glimpses of what they were shown and were told.  God needed to have Himself come as one of us, as His Son to be among us and teach and show and try to explain and exemplify what the prophets could not fully do.  So in part, Jesus through use of parables was teaching and announcing what had lain hidden--the spiritual, mystical realities as well as practical and perfect instruction on how we are to live and love among one another.  He also taught and exemplified to us how we are in God and God is in us, and of the importance of living God's law of love, the greatest of all laws and commandments.  Love God above all things and love others and ourselves as God loves, as we are in God and He is in us.  Jesus was announcing, living, teaching, exemplifying these truths that have been from the beginning of creation.  Our souls are spiritual.  Love transcends the temporal.

Here's the Gospel of Mathew, 13: 31-35, in which Jesus teaches and speaks of the kingdom of heaven, and all spoken to the crowds in parables:

"Jesus proposed a parable to the crowds. 'The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field.  It is the smallest of the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants.  it becomes a large bush, and the birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.'

"He spoke to them another parable.  'The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch was leavened.'

"All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables. He spoke to them only in parables to fulfill what had been said through the prophet: 'I will open my mouth in parables, I will announce what has lain hidden from the foundation of the world.'"

Love in His Love, and God bless His Real Presence in you!
