Catholic Hermit: God's Testimony

Holy Scripture, God's Living Word, is always a major benefit in taking into our eyes and our souls, our bodies, minds, and hearts what is Truth, Beauty, and Goodness of God.  I never cease to be uplifted and also oftentimes amazed all over again, at some statement that has not particularly impacted me in some way or other, next time read or heard or pondered--impacts in new ways!

I considered this morning, again from 1 Letter of John (5:7-13), the powerful impact of hearing "the testimony of God" and again, "Now the testimony of God is this...."  My mind made a loop-back!  What?  What is God's testimony?  Sounds simple enough, but of course, we humans are complicated, and simplifying is often a complicated endeavor in itself.  However, God's testimony is for each of us, and requires our love, our belief in Jesus Christ, to possess the Son of God, to believe in Jesus' Name.

"Now the testimony of God is this, that He has testified on behalf of His Son.  Whoever believes in the Son o fGod has this testimony within himself.  Whoever does not believe, God has made him a liar by not believing the testimony God has given about His Son.

"And this is the testimony:
God gave us eternal life,
and this life is in His Son.
Whoever possesses the Son has life;
Whoever does not possess the Son of God does not have life.

"I write these things to you so that you may know
that you have eternal life,
you who believe in the name of the Son of God."

Yes, so that we may know that we have eternal life--the Apostle John writes these words to us--those of us who believe in the name of the Son of God!

In my on-going quest of love of God in Himself, of union with the Holy Trinity, all that I can learn and of which to be reminded in the Living Word of God, helps and is so very positive.  I'm also at a major point in my life and circumstances, that expunging negativity and filling in with positivity is a focused effort of which I'm trying to be prayerfully aware and to seek the Holy Spirit's guidance in decisions and interactions, in sensitivity to others' moods, attitudes, desires, needs.

I did make the two largish decisions the other day.  Both are quite positive--choice and movement in positivity, and the one in particular in making another's life be more positive.  The lesser but major choice as for my circumstances and effort involved, can be a positive very much so, in that I am trying to bring in more positive to my daily life since the pain and suffering have been so great in the past year, and there have been some negative aspects that I must avoid, for they are not of God.  However, I have no idea if the positive potential of my lesser decision will end up being possible as it requires effort on my part.  However, I decided it is a risk to take, and there are always ways out of temporal decisions if we try and they turn out we over-estimated such as physical stamina.

But what is always a decision of which the doors of love and positivity always open, and the Lord there to always greet us with love and peace, with mercy...and promise of eternal life, we always have assurance that God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit are decisions that rely only on our faith, our belief, our daring to believe and to hope in God, and to love His Real Presence, the Holy Trinity!

God bless His Real Presence in us!  Little children, let us love one another, for God Is Love!

Catholic Hermit: Giving Up Stuff

His Real Presence leads us, it seems, thematically.  In our daily lives themes recycle until we grow through the phases, one after another.  Often, the themes recycle again and again in other levels and with varying circumstances and details.  Can we see this in each of our temporal and spiritual lives?

Today's Gospel is from Matthew 19.  The Word may be alarming to some, for it sounds severe, even extreme.

"And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters
or father or mother or children or lands
for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more,
and will inherit eternal life."

Jesus is asked, off and on, in His public ministry years what it takes to enter the Kingdom of God.  What must we do to be followers of Christ?

This past Saturday while in the mystical state during Mass, the Lord taught me a bit of "stuff" that hinders, that I must give up.  It is an answer to prayer, the showing of the particular "possession."  Coincidentally, the priest had some temporal comments to make, all fine.  But as I've explained before, when in the ecstasy, if there are temporal aspects, appropriate or not, good or not, I can recall those or recall the gist.  If it is spiritual, then there is no memory recall and simply bliss.

Of course, priests do well to include temporal examples in teaching, just as Jesus did.  The priest was making excellent points--quite brief but pithy.  With a heat wave in effect, he mentioned a priest he knew who gave a 32nd homily...or was it 30-second homily?  So a little joke there, but I could hear the priest ask if given the heat, if parishioners would prefer a 30-second homily or a longer one?

Ah, of course--the 30-second one seemed for the best under the temporal circumstances.  What the priest spoke about might have taken a bit longer, but he challenged everyone to ponder this week, just what it really means in our own, daily lives to actually follow Christ.

During his brief remarks and a bit after, into the prelude to consecration of the host and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ, I noticed the ecstasy to be rather light.  I began to notice the thoughts in my mind, like bees in a bee hive buzzing about.  They were not negative thoughts--but were thoughts all the same of this person to pray for or that situation, or other extraneous tidbits and reminders.

Then I recognized the message that dovetailed with the priest's very brief message that contained much to reflect upon and apply to our lives.  The Lord was showing me how brief and succinct is God in His messages and teachings; and how many thoughts are in my mind.

You see, after the death of my will and it being replaced by God's Will, I have been praying for my thoughts, my mind, to be replaced by His Thoughts, His Mind, His Insights.  I had come to understand that my own thoughts were not so cohesive much of the time, with His Will that had replaced my will.

During Mass, the bee hive of my mind was so buzzing with thought-bees, I got the message by being shown the difference between His Thoughts and mine.  God's Thoughts are to-the-point and do not keep buzzing round and round, in and out.  My thoughts tend to do that; they can swarm sometimes!  The negative ones now are easy enough to toss out or bar entrance to my hive-mind.  But the busy-bee thoughts--even though hard at well-intentioned work--are noisy and profuse.

I had felt such a tremendous freedom once I stopped the negative thoughts over a week ago. I broke free from the prison I had allowed my mind to become--a cell of pain and hardship thoughts.  The burden of all that has been dramatically lifted!  It seemed as if there was lots of free space in my mind, in my soul!

But no, where the negative thoughts had been run out, many more neutral or even positive thoughts multiplied and filled the mental space.  How could the Lord get a Word in edgewise?  Well, His Mind could come knocking at the door of my busy bee hive-mind and find no room in the "inn".

Thus, in my pondering as how I can follow Jesus in my daily life, and in the answer to my prayer for God's Mind to replace my mind, for His Thoughts to replace my thoughts, I must give up my thoughts, in effect.  And part of all that includes having to give up some relationships, or types of relationships, that are heavy-laden with my thoughts, not God's Thoughts.

Of course there is much we can give up--aspects of our temporal lives, of temporal "stuff" we can give up and should give up if we are to follow Christ and be fit to enter His Kingdom.  Yet also there are aspects of our souls, in all the rings or levels of our souls right into the center where is the will and the intellect, that we can give up, bit by bit or in chunk after chunk.

A little exercise I am practicing this week is to inquire of His Real Presence, Him in me and me in Him, is to ask:  Is this thought God's Thought, or is this thought my thought?  Most often at this point of the exercise, the thoughts are mine.  But increasingly my thoughts will subside, dissipate, buzz away, or drop dead of natural causes like bees who have worked themselves out of fruition....

Now, to rid out the thoughts that are not God's--I'm not sure we humans could or should completely clear out all our thoughts.  In our temporal lives, we have thoughts coming in often--and all the time if we avail ourselves to cell phones, laptops, televisions, radios, videos, movies, news, and all the i-tech gadgets that keep communications flowing.

However, we can simplify and manage the thoughts.  And we can, such as I am to do, rid out as many of my own thoughts, especially the negative and pointless ones, and begin to identify and grasp God's Thoughts.  For if He has made His Abode in us, He certainly has within His Thoughts to impart in us.

I know this to be true, for in the night when my hive-mind is less buzzing and the bee-thoughts are at rest, God's Insights are able to make honey in my soul.  Or sometimes in the day when I am asking Him something, He answers if my hive-mind is alert and cleared enough to hear and listen.

Amazingly (as His Real Presence is amazing grace), after He showed me my busy bee thoughts swarming my hive-mind, accentuated in the mystical ecstasy during Mass--the thoughts became stilled, and throughout the Consecration and following, it was once again bliss--until the end-of Mass announcements of temporal good things, yes.  But the spiritual, the mystical aspect of Mass is bliss, is heaven on earth.

When we give up stuff in order to follow Christ and enter into His Kingdom, we increasingly climb the stairway to heaven and experience degrees of bliss in whatever manner and grace He bequeaths.  His attributes bring peace, truth, beauty, goodness, bliss and blessedness.

I'm sure there will be more stuff, material or immaterial, for me to give up in order to increasingly, fully follow Christ and enter into His Kingdom.  For now, my assignment is to discern thoughts.

I must seek out and identify His Thoughts which will multiply when I quiet or rid out or bar busy bee thoughts.  The busy bee thoughts can be from without my  mind--busy thoughts from others in various input modalities.  Yet I can shut the windows and doors of my mind-hive to the extraneous and unnecessary.  Just as I was, others might be surprised by how many thoughts are swarming our minds, taking up space that otherwise could be available to God's Thoughts, God's Insights, His Wisdom.

Of course, we must emphasize that giving up stuff is done for one ideal, one purpose, One Lord: Jesus Christ!  We are giving up our "possessions", that which possesses us, for His name's sake.

This is work; it takes some desire and effort.  Cleaning a house is far easier, but ridding my bee hive mind of my buzzing thoughts is going to be fruitful and increasingly freeing in a fruitful way.  Within I will find the honey of God's Mind, sweetening my soul--the effects of which can be shared with others in nuanced ways.  I have no idea exactly how, but we will find out!

I do know this:  God's Thoughts are not busy nor buzzing.  They are succinct, clear, pure, not worrisome nor repetitive, not possessive but freeing and quiet.

God bless His Real Presence in us--our bodies, minds, hearts, and spirits!  Yes, I pray for His Real Presence to find plenty of room in the inn of our bodies, minds, hearts, and spirits.

Catholic Hermit's Responsibility

There are many responsibilities of a consecrated Catholic hermit.  They sift out in layers, perhaps, or a certain hierarchy of order--and am not going to attempt listing or setting them in priority at this point.  Probably does not matter that much, as long as we keep striving in holiness to live out the various responsibilities.

A huge responsibility (if we can even term these as such...not sure the best word) is to have positive movement in our souls toward, in, around, through, with God.  Divine Union, it is called, and the Unitive Way.  Pseudo-Macarius refers to wearing the raiment of ineffable light and resting in the Lord.

And while we pray and strive and lay our wills, intellects and our very souls before God for His use, the results should be seen, felt, perceived as light, His Light in refraction or reflection or from within to without, even if dim light.  The dim can grow--should grow--brighter.   And a Catholic hermit's God-glow-light [or Christian hermit: Macarius is adamant in referring to himself and others as Christians whether or not in any of the aspects of the Consecrated Life of the Church, Married, Lay, or Holy Orders] ought to lift or help propel the soul as well as other souls, toward God and the things of God.

It is an irony, then, that when this nothing consecrated Catholic hermit writes of temporal aspects of hermit life, which really do not amount to much in the spectrum of eternal life, there seems to be more blog readers from this country other than one or two other countries out there.  Otherwise, the readership of blogs that are more of His "Light" and spiritually--hopefully--uplifting, the readership continues to be from those of other countries, and not so much this one (United States).

Does this bear some analysis, even if not possible to do an in depth, statistical study?  Perhaps it is a practical reality when we consider how there are many levels of the spiritual life, and not everyone is moving in the same mode.  Some are starting out, and their starting out may be spiraling upward already more so than some who have been hermits for quite awhile.  Does it really matter?  Probably not other than it does seem interesting--the notice of what it seems those interested in hermit life in this country like to read or want to know about hermit life, as opposed, perhaps to those from other countries such as France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Ireland, England, the Philippines, and Poland among several others.

Maybe there are more hermits just starting out in this country, and like a newly wed wife, have interest in more practical and temporal aspects.  A new wife is interested in setting up house:  how to decorate the home, what rules of protocol will she establish in regard to her and her husband's daily lives, what work to be done, what to cook and eat, how much social life, how to handle their finances, what church and how often, what spiritual life in the home, pets or not, to rent or own, clothing/apparel, plus the use of a title distinguishing their married state--same last name or not?

But after awhile, a married couple grows out of this phase, or most do, and perhaps ought to not have such interest in these temporal aspects.  Is that even fair to suggest or promote?  Perhaps those married for several years can answer best.  This hermit was married for a little over a decade, but in that time period, the focus changed and deepened, at least in what this part of the couple desired.  The fascination in house-holding soon faded, as all that is such a finite and temporal aspect, anyway.  What grew to be of more interest and concern, were the aspects of the soul of each spouse and also of children, and of growing professionally, yes, in careers, but also in the vocation of marriage and as parents.  The spiritual dimension began to be central to all else, even if the spouses were not each in equal agreement or emphasis.

This hermit has observed couples married for many years (and its own parents were married for over 60), and it does seem that they grow in their souls over time, and spiral more into more meaty matters, more altruistic and/or spiritually desirous (even if not in a church).  Those who do not spiral upward nor also plumb the depths (however we want to view this), usually end up not together or else miserable as a couple, with one spiraling upward and the other not or not as much to a degree that is detrimental to each.

While not going to take the time to do it, it would be interesting for this hermit to go back through the many blog posts of various blog titles it has written in the past nearly ten years.  What ones showed light and upward lifting to things of God, and what ones dwelt in the temporal, and how many each?  How long did this hermit remain more or less in place, discussing or thinking about--or maybe thinking it had the responsibility to write about temporal matters such as what does a hermit wear, or eat, or daily routine, or title, or rule of life or what prayers, or what degree of solitude, and what does its hermitage look like?

And, this hermit recalls that it used to write about the upsets quite a bit--the clash of its soul, basically, with the temporal aspects of the temporal Church.  There always seemed to be some kind of issue or problem, and the reasons seem to be the very reason for considering this whole topic.  Do we outgrow, or should we outgrow, the temporal aspects of our lives as we progress in life, and spiral more upward--or deeper in--and seek the spiritual aspects that our souls truly desire and actually need?

When this hermit goes with God's flow and acquiesces when doors close--even if those doors seem to be ones to aspects of life that are good, or were good for that temporal time period in the passage--there is the peace of Christ in its soul.  When this hermit does not read or engage in what keeps it at the temporal, "newly-wed" stage of matters (so to speak), there is the peace of Christ and upward spiraling to the things of God above.

Anyway, it has been an interesting observation and in the thoughts this morning, while building another wood frame for raised planting beds.  One section of the porch remains to be rebuilt, and the hermit needs to pry the old boards from the porch floor.  It then drills starter holes and secures the boards into a square, using exterior screws.  It also uses scrap treated wood 2x2"s to reinforce each interior corner.  (All this has spiritual allegories galore--leave it to you to ponder them if you wish.)

Then the hermit levels them out in the garden/orchard area, and carts wheelbarrows of dirt from a pile that has been composting for a couple of years.  Eventually some composted fertilizer will be added.  Then seeds planted, and then there will be the miracle of growth, and a renewal of the spiraling upward movement of all things to God Above.

Some might think how foolish that this hermit use its time and energy to repurpose the porch floor boards when it does not have a salable hermitage or even a bathroom or stairway.  But the priorities are of the Order of the Present Moment, and the weather is perfect for outside work, and this amount of gardening is uplifting--plus a right-amount of physical exercise for a hermit's de-conditioned and painful back.

So we do have levels of responsibilities, and some might seem not as important as others.  What does seem conclusive, is that we have a responsibility to our own souls, to other souls, and of course to His Real Presence, to keep striving to spiral upward with our bodies, minds, hearts, and spirits.  We need to grow in the deepest and most important ways, such as what Jesus said in today's Gospel reading. What He tells us is told Him to say to us by the Father.  He Is Who He says He Is.  He says the Father's commandment is eternal life.

So, that is something to ponder, right there.  What does it mean that God's commandment is eternal life?  And does that, or should it, affect what focus, energy, thought, movement to which we place our bodies, minds, hearts, and spirits?

God bless His Real Presence in us!  Little children, let us love one another and remain in His Love.  (Where does His Love lead us?  Is His Love stationary; is His Love spiraling upward, always; or does it remain at temporal levels, of that which is more stagnant?  Should we outgrow some aspects, or all aspects, of the temporal?  Do we outgrow it, anyway, since we physically die ?)

Catholic Hermit: Loves Points Macarius Makes

Not reading quickly these days. The more spiritually profound the writing, the more the body, mind, heart, and spirit desire to dwell upon what is read--and more so be taken to the heart of God within the insights written.  This nothing consecrated Catholic hermit is still dwelling on Pseudo-Macarius' first homily!

Love this point:

"If, therefore, you have become a throne of God and the Heavenly Charioteer has mounted you and your whole soul is a spiritual eye and has become totally light, and if you have been nourished with that heavenly food of the spirit and you have drunk from the water of life and you have put on the raiment of ineffable light, if finally your interior man has experienced all these and has been rooted in the abundance of faith, then, behold, you already live the eternal life, indeed, with your soul resting with the Lord."

Truly, from time to time this nothing has experienced each of these mentioned, but this interior man has not been so rooted in the abundance of faith.  No, this nothing, this human hermit is yet distracted by the temporal detritus that plays with the mind and emotions (heart), and up-ends the spirit, far too often.  However, His Real Presence has been showing the nothing Catholic hermit the strident differences between things that are below and things that are above, of God.

And there are things of the temporal of God's created, that can very much in faith lead to the things of God above.  But there are things of the temporal that tend to lead downward or to interfere with faith, or simply to distract and keep the interior man from the abundance of faith that allows it to live the eternal life here and now, with the soul resting with the Lord.

So we see what are the differences between the two, and we also see a means of entering into God and spiraling with Him from the beauty, truth, and goodness of His Created and Creation, upward in faith, hope, and love.  But we still have the snares of the temporal that do not easily or at all merge us with His spiraling movement to that which is above.  Macarius provides a reason for the hindrance: settling for the poverty of sin.

"Look, you have received these things truly from the Lord so that you may live the true life.  If, however, you are not conscious of having experienced any of these things, weep, mourn and groan because you have not yet been made a participator of the eternal and spiritual riches and you have not yet received true life.  Therefore, be worried at your poverty, beseeching the Lord night and day because you have settled for the serious poverty of sin."

It does seem to this hermit, that it has not settled for the serious poverty of sin, either.  Thus the reason why there are at times and points, some part of the soul a spiritual eye--or that eye closed at times and open at others; and there is thus some light and some not light.  The hermit prays that the spiritual eye remain increasingly open--that it is more like the unconscious blinking of the human eyelid, and that the blinking become briefer and eventually cease, so that the soul is a spiritual eye filled with God's ineffable Light.

It is also interesting to note that when the physical body dies, the human eyelids are closed, or if not, another closes them, and there they remain closed to this world.  But then the spiritual eye is opened and remains open--either for an eternal view of God (even a distant view), or for an eternal view of not God, which we may term "hell."

Today the hermit's prayer is to be a throne of God, to be that chariot of which He mounts and guides in all directions at once, nourished by food of the Spirit and water of Life, clothed in His light, and rooted in an abundance of faith--thus for this soul to rest with the Lord.

It is this hermit's prayer for each of you, as well.

God bless His Real Presence in us!  Little children, let us love one another and remain in His Love. Let us pray for our spiritual eyes to be opened and remain filled with light and faith, and to lessen our distracted sightings of that which causes our bodies, minds, hearts, or souls to blink too often or be drawn closed.

Catholic Hermit: What Is of Above; What Is of the Earth

From the Gospel of John, Chapter 3:31-36:

"The one who comes from above is above all.
The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things.
But the one who comes from heaven is above all.
He testifies to what he has seen and heard,
but no one accepts his testimony.
Whoever does accept his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy.
For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God.
He does not ration his gift of the Spirit.
The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life,
but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God remains upon him."

The nothing consecrated Catholic hermit awoke this morning, quite early, in the usual--but higher than sometimes--pain.  The right kidney area has been affected greatly since the previous major pain siege.  It is merely a new aspect of pain of which the hermit must embrace and accept, and eventually learn to distract the mind from it.  This will occur over time.  Periodically there are new areas of pain added to the conscious awareness of this earthly body.

Is today the day to attempt getting up and trying to press forward in physical activity?  Or should there be yet another day of increased pain meds enough to allow the mind and body to rest and have reprieve, the mind and emotions from the bodily, earthly pain?  Am drinking some heated-up, three-day-old coffee and eating some chocolate covered almonds a friend sent, while assessing the bodily situation. Firstly, however, drank some very healthy Green Glory--the hermit's name for a veggie-fruit smoothie.

Now, the chocolate covered almonds are not healthy other than the almonds and perhaps a tinge of the chocolate...had it been dark chocolate.  Yet the temporal truth of the matter remains that sugar helps increase the endorphins in the brain, which are the body's natural, brain pain aids.

Natural sugar such as in fruit is healthier than the raw sugar in milk chocolate-coating on the almonds.  But the raw sugar acts faster, and the hermit's pain level is such that it requires either faster-acting endorphin stimulators or increased pain meds.  The hermit prefers to medicate with the sugar first, in case the mind is able to gain ground over the bodily pain this morning.

The hermit has nearly 31 earth years of lived experience, plus much knowledgeable, temporal-research on the topic of pain. This regimen works even if a combination of unorthodox, not-so-healthy, temporal elements.  Who's to say, though, that ingesting more temporal pain medication for a third day might not be that good for the mortal body, either?  One thing for certain, too high of pain is not good--stresses the body, the mind, the emotions, and ultimately puts the spirit to the test of peril, as well.

Thus far in this post, the words have been of what is of the earth.  The written communication is of temporal pain, body, and thoughts on elements of various pain relievers.

But Jesus in His Living Word states that the one who comes from above is above all.  And the one who God sent speaks the words of God, and He does not ration God's gift of the Spirit.

Which of these does this nothing consecrated Catholic hermit want?  Does it want to be of the earth and to speak earthly things, or does it desire to be from above and above all?

If this hermit wants to be in union with His Real Presence, then it must be with Him and from above and above all.  It must speak the words of God and accept the fullness of God's gift of the Spirit.  As Jesus does, so must the hermit do...by the grace of God and the best of its ability and discipline of its God-given free will.  (Remember, the human soul, created in each of us by God, consists of the intellect and the will.)

The successful saints and mystics throughout Christian history chose to be with Him from above and above all.  They thought and spoke the words of God and accepted His fullness of the gift of the Spirit.

So must this nothing consecrated Catholic hermit.

As for the current temporal circumstances, down to the last nub of mortal energy and effort on a temporal abode and the few temporal, in-person interactions--these are of the earth. Choices need to be made.  Is it to be from above or from the earth?

If a soul chooses to be from above with the Above, it must let that from the earth be of the earth.  Otherwise, there is conflict of interest, as is said often enough of temporal issues. In the writing, the words ought be of that which comes from above, of the words of God, and of thoughts and actions of the Spirit.  In the thinking, likewise.  In the interactions with others, the same:  Be of that which comes from above--the words of God and the thoughts and actions of the gift of the Spirit.  Be of and in His Real Presence.

Now, this can come down to the details even of the temporal Church, or as some call it the "secular" Church.  Other than the Mass in which is the fullness of truth and the seven sacraments inclusive, the other aspects are of the earth.  The committees, the positions, meetings, prestige and fund-raisers, labels and titles, temporal decisions and rules, the decor and garb, are of the earth.

The Mass and the Sacraments within are of God above.  (We ought be honest even if it seems painfully, nakedly stripped and whipped.) When what is of earth and speaking the words of earth, is all set aside, we have in and around us what is from above and the words of God and of the gift of the Spirit. We can more readily "see" in order to think, do, and be, according to our choice of free will, what is or what is not of earth or of heaven.

A consecrated Catholic hermit, the nothing to His All that it is, has the luxury of being able to choose the rather extreme in the stripping and whipping away of what is of earth.  His Real Presence provides this luxury through the temporal aspects of pain...actually.  But the luxury needs to be chosen and accepted for and as the gift that it is.  And then it must be utilized as gift and as way of life-beingness from above, not of the earth.

The temporal is passing away, as we are told by Jesus.  And whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.  We are also told this truth.  We can choose to be with and in one from above, or to be of and from the earth.  (Attempting to be partly of above and partly of earth, causes a fissure of which the below wins out by temporal gravity.)  This hermit has had enough of hair- and word- and life- and soul-splitting.

The process of choosing can be relatively quick.  The process of accepting and living in the one from above and not of the earth, can be however long is life.  One wonders if the process of accepting and living in the one from above extends into eternity?  Does the process include such as in the phase we term "purgatory", or the purgation of what remains in us of that which is of earth--whatever is lacking in us of good, or clinging to that which is temporal and passing?

Now the hermit must turn to reading of that which is from above, in preparation for a phone discussion later in the temporal morning of time that is gifted from above.  And for that reading, to have the mind more alert means there is a decision to not take the temporal pain medication that would give the temporal body additional respite from temporal pain.

The thoughts and words that the hermit will read and which come from above will assist in this transitional day of the body's pain siege needs.  Then the mind, heart, and spirit's assumption into the above will be upward--more into the One Who Is from above--and of and into the words of God, and of the un-rationed gift of His Spirit.

Choose, accept, and strive to be with the one who is above.   Through, with, and in Him, be above all. Speak the words of God; testify to what has been seen and heard.  Accept Jesus' testimony; God is trustworthy.  Believe in the Son and have eternal life.  Disobey the Son, and lose the sight of life of, from, and in the above.

Not everyone will grasp this hermit's intent or the challenge. Some are anchored in earth and think and speak of earthly things. This hermit has done so, often enough.  It will not be easy to shift.  The process could be made easier if the hermit asks for and utilizes the God-proffered graces of great faith, desire, and strength of will.

If this hermit relinquishes its grip on things of the earth--even the emotional attachments to perceived earthly needs-- then the process of being, thinking, and speaking of that which is above will flow from the power of the Spirit--given in fullness, not rationed.  All has been given over from the Father to the Son, and this hermit is being invited into the Son.

It accepts!

Now to live as from above, in One who is from above and above all, not from earth and of earthly things.  Living from above is a process requiring relinquishing of earthly habits and ways of perceiving.  This requires accepting the power His Real Presence desires to pour into this soul.  There may be quite a few earthly hindrances remaining to be expunged. We shall find out.

Even though it seems this soul has been emptied over the years of temporal time, by the scourges of beautiful pain and suffering, there may likely be things of earth holding it from all that is above all.  And, there may be good ways of using that of the earth as steps on the stairway to heaven.

A friend's package arrived the other day.  Inside were the chocolate-coated almonds and a tin of colored pencils with the suggestion the hermit enhance the Living Word with what the temporal trends call "Bible Art."  Says it will immerse the body, mind, heart, and spirit all the more into His Living Word.

(This may be one way of body, mind, heart, and soul spiraling in Christ, upward from earth with Him to above, utilizing temporal pencils and color into eternity of thought and God's Life-In-Word.)

God bless His Real Presence in us!  Little children, let us love one another for God Is Love!  Remain in His Love.  His Love is from above and above all!
