Hermit Exercises Free Will for the Good

The Da last evening also said, "People can exercise their free will!"

This was in reference to the example given of sideways crosses (those sufferings which humans bring on themselves, or in reaction to sins of others, and thus the reaction is a suffering brought on by self). Would the Lord use a sideways cross and desire it to remain in a soul's life for means of a virtue such as humility?

If so, then those who have porn addictions might consider their suffering as part of their human nature, and that the Lord intends for them to keep it so that they will know they are human, and if anyone with problems comes to them, they would be able to relate or to maintain humility.

That brought the response on acts of the free will! So, nothing hoped that the Lord would come last night and simply excise the remaining portion of weed root that crops up now and then, causing pained reaction from wounds of the past--and thus desperate wounds of the present since nothing reacts when some comment or incident dredges them up.

But the Lord did not appear with scalpel in hand, as He had for St. Hugh. Rather, nothing awoke (in much physical pain!), knowing with that special interior peaceful knowing, that the Lord expects nothing to cut it out itself. Yes, again: Just stop it! For this, nothing may need to ask to be informed more of the person whose mention is fertilizer to the weed root. Then, to embrace the image with joy, and de-condition the memory, and re-condition the present moment thoughts.

There is an old book that nothing started to read, called Training the Will. Nothing bogged down in the beginning and didn't finish, as it was rather technical and of the early 20th century--but even the title helps. Yes, the will can be trained. The trained will is very exercised and powerful, but it must be trained as God wills, trained in tune with His will.

Willing out sideways crosses is in keeping with God's will. Ridding out vices, even if they could be constrained as our "human nature", is a higher good. Yes, when remarks were made to nothing, regarding its determination to not talk about people, the remarks included, "but we are humans, and that is how we humans are!" There were even little jibe questions: Aren't you human? Do you think you can be perfect?"

Of course nothing is human, and not on my own can I be perfect, but the Lord in Scripture has asked us to be perfect. So we try. And exercising free will for the good of its soul and glory of God, is necessary in walking before the Lord.

Consequences ensue. Those who do not want to rid out vices, or who share nothing's vices, will be uncomfortable with nothing's change. Yet others, in the long run, will be relieved, for with the sideways cross of a past memory, continuing into the present, does affect others who then are not so free to share, for fear of hurting nothing's feelings--feelings that are not necessary any more because it is past.

What's more, nothing has realized that the reaction it continued to have, albeit weakened and not frequent, was hindering the full embrace of hermit and victim soul vocations. Where weeds grow, flowers cannot.

Thanks for the prayers, Brenda! They have been effective! During the night I knew I was to simply stop the turning back, looking back, and stop any slight feelings that would arise. It truly is an act of the will, and last evening an opportunity came up once more, of the past, and there were NO nuances of ANY feelings about it. God's grace suffices--and yet in this case He expected me to simply stop it by a desire and effort, and I guess also total faith that He would remove it. He did! I assume He has filled all that with Himself, for the space that allowed the looking back seems gone. I suppose your prayers filled it by the grace of God and His presence!
